celebrate we will
‘cause life is short but sweet for certain.
I knew right when I met her that Robin Gates was one of the beautiful people. She told me that she had grown up in Ruston AND managed to “survive the Baptists.” She spent the summer in the Yukon Territory with NOLS. She demanded that I learn (or at least listen to) all the words to Monty Python’s “Every Sperm is Sacred,” and even though Monty Python has never held my attention – I made it that time … for her. Robin smiled often and laughed even more. She reminded me that life is beautiful. Everyday.
And she’ll be missed to the moon and back, around the earth and back again.
She lived so vibrantly, so exuberantly, so well, that I can hear and see Robin explaining her sudden death. “Well, I was just minding my own and then something in my head went ‘pfthwpt.’ WTF?” Then she shrugs her shoulders and lets out a boisterous laugh. Not even a surprise attack aneurism could stop her. She’d laugh at that.
And so I’m attempting to follow in her ways.
But I’m devastated.
dealing.
